Yes. I've heard with F-secure sometimes you need to actually uninstall it completely, then attempt to restart PostgreSQL and that can fix things. I don't have a copy of F-Secure to test myself so I can't say why but it is something you should consider trying.

There will be 2 instances of PokerTracker.exe running if you look in Task Manager, yes. This is normal.

Hi,

Poker Tracker 3 worked well today.

First I stopped my F-Secure antivirus and firewall, and then I stopped the postgres.exe running on my task manager. I launched Poker Tracker 3 and it worked. It also succesfully connected to the database. First time since a while...

Just lucky ?... I don't know... Or maybe a new up date from F-Secure...

I will enjoy it and let you know if this method is still working.

Thanks.

I have McAfee, not F-secure, but occassionally have the same problem as Adam and Kraada. I control/alt/delete and end the pokertracker process which solves the problem (untiol the next time it happens). Like Adam, I too noticed to pokertracker .exe files, but I assume that is because I tried opening pokertracker a 2nd time when it didn't open the first time.

Hi,

I tried Poker Tracker 3 again, and it was so long to succeed and have access to database. Finally, my second test worked, but in a little different way...

I stopped my F-Secure (antivirus and firewall), stopped all pokertracker.exe and postgres.exe running... and also my TeaTimer.exe (from Spybot Search and Destroy)... and then launched Poker Tracker (postgre.exe are launched automatically with poker tracker)... and it worked.

Again I won't retry for the moment in order to enjoy my session. I will let you know for next time...

But Spybot Search and Destroy could be the problem... to be investigated, without doing anything on F-Secure...

PS : Poker Tracker 3 is always running with 2 pokertracker.exe at the same time, even if I don't have the error message that "a poker tracker is already running". If message, then I have 4 pokertracker.exe running...

PT3 normally has two PokerTracker.exe files running, you'll notice that one uses a lot more RAM than the other does; these two processes are normal and not any actual indication of a problem.

I have this exact same problem. I re-installed postgresql, nothing changed. It worked a while when i did these things in this post: http://www.pokertracker.com/forums/view ... art#p83033 but then it stopped working again. I think it's because f-secure because this problem has occurred after the update of it.... Hope the things in that link helps some people though.

Hi parsis,

Thanks for your link.

I made the exceptions for the .exe files, on the Firewall of Windows and on the Firewall of F-Secure. Both of them to be sure...

No improvment... When I launch Poker Tracker 3, all .exe files are launched and running (pokertracker.exe, postgres.exe and pg_ctl.exe), but no logo on the screen and no window... Everything is running but I don't have anything on the screen...
Then, I stop all the running files, and try again... not working...

Hope this problem will end sooner...

Adam,

Try completely uninstalling F-Secure; sometimes that can do the trick for people.

I uninstalled fsecure and after that pt3 worked like a charm. So the problem is really with fsecure. Let's hope someone finds a solution to this...
