Unfortunately I'm not aware of another workaround but you could contact the F-Secure people as you really ought to be able to use PostgreSQL with their product.

Try completely uninstalling F-Secure; sometimes that can do the trick for people.

Well at home we pay every month for F-Secure antivirus. It would be stupid to pay something I don't use...
I'm going to write an email to F-Secure's support in order to know if they are aware of this problem and if they can do something.
What I don't understand is that sometimes Poker Tracker 3 works even if F-Secure is installed but desactivated... that means there should be a solution without uninstalling F-Secure. I guess.

I will let you know...

Please do keep us posted, but since the problem is with F-Secure not allowing PostgreSQL to start up as a service properly, and we write neither F-Secure nor PostgreSQL you can see how we can't do much more for you. But if there's an easy fix for F-Secure users (or even a slightly annoying fix that does in fact fix things without permanently uninstalling), I'd very much like to know what it is.

F-Secure doesn't want to take in charge my problem because I am not their direct customer...
I sent a message to my Internet Service Provider, Darty Box (french). They provide also my security package, F-Secure.

I have excatly the same problem as Adam have. I has been ongoing now for appr. 2 weeks and there is nothing which I can do about it. Until problem will be solved PT3 is useless for me. Based on discussion in this thread I do understand that the issue is F-secure and PT3/postgres related. However as I and many others in this forum are IT service users not real IT fanatics i would like to service providers to put there heads together and solve this matter. If I or other IT service ursers start to be creative here it is more or less same as to pick one unknow guy from street to run ER.

F-seruce is moderately widely used software and I really dont ever think to run my computer without firewall and virus scanner. So, it is kind of part of the IT platform of where PT3/postgres should be running. I truly hope that matter would be solved as soon as possible. The edge of playing without PT3 far too big :( and that is the reason why we have payed our duces.

We realise this is frustrating, but if your firewall is preventing the postgres service from running then there is nothing we can do to make it run - as kraada said, we don't write F-Secure or postgres. PT3 requests that the postgres service starts, but if it doesn't then there is nothing we can do to make it.
You may want to contact the postgres developers too to see if there is anything they can do (I'm sure our development team will be mentioning it too, but the more people ask the more likely something is to be done).

Thanks for the reply Whiterider,

I do understand the logic, matter is primary between postgres and f-secure and due to that it is unclear who and when this will tackled. Like Adam wrote my f-secure is also via operator so if I want bring the matter to f-secure attention it is through operator. Would it good to connect this thread to mail or something else to lightening the problem to f-secure and postrges. Anyway I would not raise my hopes too high as my operator is cutting jobs down as we speak.

I have given me a week to solve the matter, after that I will choose between pt/postgres and f-secure. By the way, which are the firewall and virus scanners providers which works without any hickups (at the moment)?

Best Regards,

User

I called to f-secure technical support and asked if they aware of the problem. They replied that problem has come to their attention from various users. Obviously their are looking into that ( with or without postgres developers) and hopefully we will have a fix at some point.
