Thx for you help,

I have window 7 premium and running in 64 bit. Ive checked in services and don't see PostgreSQL; i remembered deleting it a while ago with tracking program.
Awaiting for next step.

The easiest then is probably just going to be reinstalling PostgreSQL 9.0-x64 (the best version for your operating system). You can download it here.

The common defaults are:
dbpass
svcPASS83
and
postgrespass

If none of those work for you, you'll need to delete the user account and then you can put in whatever you want. To delete the user account, follow the steps in this portion of our tutorial.

Just got PT4, and it is saying ''Unable to connect to this database. Please check the configuration.'' ???this is ridiculous like I pay for the programme...download it and it doesn't work. Help please

Have you tried the default passwords listed above? If so, click Start type services.msc and click on it when it appears. Do you see PostgreSQL in the list of services?

yes what will i do next?( I already did this before and clicked on postgreSQL and clicked start to the side of it but it said ''the postgreSQL service on the local computer started then stopped, some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programmes''

Then click Start type Event Viewer and click on it when it appears. Expand the Windows Logs area and click on Applications in the top left. In the center section look for errors relating to PostgreSQL. Click on the first one you see (there should likely be one) and tell me what the error text in the bottom center says.
