Postby zedjr » Tue Sep 07, 2010 2:28 am

What si the process in making two databases on two different drives adn suing them both in pt3. SO i would have to put the postgresql data on 2 different drives,, So it is something wiht changing the data directories or soemthing in postgresql. I know put it in raid right but i dont want to. i need an exact process guide if that is possible,, maybe it exists allready somewhereon here.
btw i am not trying ot put the postgresql install on one drive then data on teh other,, i am putting the postgresql install on os drive then putting 2 databases on two separate drives.

SOrry i should say am going ot put postgresql on 3 dirves. Install on one drive and data on two separate drives. IS thsi possible as i dont want to create an array> also wont ahve same databsase on two separate drives. WIll keep one database on one drive and another one on another. SO i geuss maybe that would be parralel installations. Maybe i should just put 8.3 on one drive adn 8.4 on teh othher and then follow these directions for jsut putting data fodler on both of thsoe drives and keep install on c. THese was a way to do parralel 8.3 installs so i assume it is possible for 8.4. WOuld rather do that then split up two different versions of postgresql.

You can do that, or you can just use more than one tablespace - there's no limit that I'm aware of to the number of tablespaces used by a given install. It's certainly more than three though either way.
