PostgreSQL server configuration

Postby Boodle » Sun Jan 23, 2011 3:51 pm

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I have installed PT3. I previously uninstalled postgre 8.4 according to your provided instructions (while trying to fix this problem). I have reinstalled postgre 8.4 from the database website per your provided instructions. The postgre processes appear on my Process tab of the Task Manager, and the service is shown as "Started" on the Services area of my Administrative Tools.

When I start PT3:

The Trial Version window appears and I click Continue Trial.
The Welcome screen appears, I click OK.
The Configure PostgreSQL Server screen appears showing:

Server: localhost
Port: 5432
Database User: postgres
Password: dbpass

I click Connect and get "Unable to connect to this database. Please check the configuration."
I click OK, and am taken back to the previous Configure PostgreSQL Server screen as above.

As in one of your previous responses to this problem, I change the Password to postgrepass, but that doe not help. I get the same error messages.

What do I do now to get PT3 to work?

Thanks
Boodle

Did you save the file and restart the server afterwards via the Start menu?

If so, click Start --> (on Win XP type Run) type services.msc and hit enter. Can you find PostgreSQL on that list? If so, can you start it successfully?

Click Start, type services.msc and click on it when it appears. Do you see PostgreSQL in the list? If so, can you start it?

Hello,

I just downloaded poker tracker but I am unable to install postgreSQL.

Bascically when I try to install it I get this kind of message: C:Users-alexandre--appdata-local-temp-postgreSQL-install-validation user: Program
end with an error exit code

I remember I had the same problem when I try to install SQL from your competitor. Its been a while and I dont remember how I solved the issue.

Any help would be appreciate,

Thx, Best Regards

Let's first see if PostgreSQL is still installed at all. Click Start, type services.msc and click on it when it appears. Is PostgreSQL anywhere in the list? If not, are you on a 32 or 64 bit machine?
