PT4 won't move processed sng tournament files

Postby Dsavo » Fri Aug 10, 2012 8:12 pm

I'm having trouble playing sng at PartyPoker, when I import the files while playing, it will not automatically move the processed files to the "processed" directory. Since PartyPoker sometimes uses the same tournaments IDs as far as I can tell, it gives some overlaps, and therefore I'm missing some files at my import plus it displays the wrong stats in the HUD while playing.

What to do?

Files are only moved when the import is stopped, but as long as Party isn't overwriting the existing files then it shouldn't cause any problems if the files aren't moved until after you finish playing.
If you're missing some hands I've seen a few reports by Party players over the last few days saying that in some cases Party aren't writing hand histories.

They are not overwriting the data, but the problem is party is using the same tournament ID over and over again. So since PT4 is not moving the file as you go after it has imported it, you have a conflict when party is trying to save the next handhistory with identical ID, if you haven't stopped your import in between, that means you are losing data all the time. As an example, if you play an ongoing session on just 20 tables, it seems there is no chance that you are not losing data.

Can anything be done about that?

PS: only solution I personally can see right now, is that you have to stop and restart the import EVERY single time you finish a sng and open a new table. AND that is not really an option for me :)

Aren't the new hands just appended to the same file?
That shouldn't cause any problems.

If the hands aren't being written for subsequent tournaments with re-used numbers then you will need to contact Party about that - that would happen whether or not you were using PT4 (and actually PT4 gives you a workaround for it as you suggest).

Well, the problem is also that PT4 is not moving the files even when you finish an import. The tournament is over and finished, is has already imported the hands, but it does not move the file, I manually have to erase it.

Try closing Party down before you stop Getting Hands While Playing and let me know if that makes any difference for you.

It makes a difference. The files gets processed and moved. But that doesn't really solve my issue, since I can't open and close the server all the time.

I think we need to understand the underlying problem here.

Party should be writing hands for new tournaments without you needing to move the hand history files.
PT4 doesn't interfere with the writing of hand histories, otherwise this would be a widespread issue.
You shouldn't need to stop/start the import while you're playing - if you leave the import running and play another tournament Party should write the hands for it, and PT4 should recognize and import them.

Exactly what happens if you keep the import running and play another tournament? Are the hand histories written in that case?
If they are not, what happens if PT4 is not running when you do that? Are the hands for the second tournament written in that case? Are they written to the same file or a different file? Is the hand history file from the original tournament still there?

Experiencing the same Problem on Stars for STT's and MTT's.

When I start importing Hands while Playing I get a message pop up saying:

PokerTracker has detected that you are attempting to import
a large amount of hands while playing. Please check your
hand history directory configuration and ensure you have the
Move Processed Files option enabled.

The Move Processed Files check box definitely checked. Once I stop getting Hands while Playing the Imported Hands are not moved to the Processed folder. I have tried importing them manually which seems to work, however they don't show up in my Processed Folder.

I am very close to going ahead and making a new Database.

What directory do you have Stars saving hand histories to? Have you tried stopping and closing PokerStars before stopping the import in PT4?
