Ok ...so new development :

1.) I downloaded a fresh install of PT 4 from your website ...scanned it on this PC which showed issues in the files ...and guess what...no issue/positive/threat detected in the freshly downloaded copy

2.) I copied Stars and Tilt comm from a clean laptop to a flash disk (when scanned on the laptop with the exact same software there was no threat....

3.) I connect the flash disk to the PC and BitD instantly deleted TiltComm (again trojan) but did not delete PScomm !

4.) this is where it gets freaky ... given that it didnt autodelete pscomm i decided to manually copy it to my pt4 bin folder ...(since i dont have it there at this moment ...the recovery prog didnt recover the deleted original infected files.

...when i try to copy it to the pt 4 bin folder i get : Image this error

THIS IS STRANGE ..because I CAN COPY TO ANY DESTINATION IN MY PC ... ANY DESTINATION EXCEPT the BIN folder in PT 4 !!!! where i get the above error.
I can even copy it to the PT 4 but not to the BIN folder inside the PT4 folder

However I can COPY ANY OTHER FILE IN MY PC to the BIN FOLDER ....

WHY DOESNT the PScomm ALLOW ME TO COPY IT TO THE PT4/bin
WHILE ANY OTHER FILE IN MY PC can be copied there ???

Today I wasted my whole day solving this and probably wont even have a working copy of PT 4
This is def going to 2+2 when they reopen on 12.5 unless we find a solution

I've been a computer user for the past 15 years on a daily basis ...I know my way around most sw/hw and know how to solve most pc problems on my own ...but never ever have i in those 15 years with countless hours of pc usage have i encountered a folder which would BLOCK 1 specific file from being copied while allowing any other to be copied there

What you posted doesn't prove anything except you have some virus alerts. Nothing you have posted suggests to me that you are getting a 'virus' from the download source, in fact the opposite appears to be true. You downloaded PT4 to three different computers and on only one of them is a virus detector complaining. That tells me you have a problem on one computer but the problem is not caused by d'loaded PT4 files.

I never stated that I got a virus from the DL source ! I know the DL from PT4 is clean ..

But currently I have 2 options ....
TOTALLY UNINSTALL any AV software on my PC and have a potential infected PScomm and tiltcomm
OR dont uninstall the av and get instadelete on tiltcomm whatever source i try to copy it from + have no PScomm in the folder and no way of copying ...

so what do you suggest ? because now im contemplating a PC format ...

B4 you reformat (totally not necessary), investigate Housecall by TrendMicro. Read the instructions first because you'll probably need to be in safe mode at some stage. I've used this for more years than I care to remember and when all else fails, Housecall comes through.

Apologies to PokerTracker if it's not kosher to show linked web sites.

Tried housecall ...had to go borrow a titanum full version ;) because the simple one would freeze everytime i started the launcher (couldnt even install it)
Ran it and all its options ..and seems like 0 threats

(however its important to know that using the previous 2 sw's i got rid of 514+82 "threats" before i even got to try housecall
I knew my pc was infected..for christs sake i watch online porn, dl torrents, have 99% sw hacked and had no AV ...

Bottom line is I wont format (i was like 5 minutes away from pushing the red button but reconsidered due to how timeconsuming it would have been
right now it looks like 0 infections ..except for the pt 4 "false positive" (ONLY SHOWN IN BITD and a-seq antimalw)
so i decided to uninstall all av/antimalware and i will update PT4 to the newes .18 from the web which seems to be clean on all 3 programs when scanned (well now i just have to wait the 12 hours it takes to process my db)

@ PT4 SUPPORT: I guess you have a lot more important work than investigating such an issue which hasnt yet been proved to be a security threat. So its fine by me if we drop this at this point (no need to waste your time too since i already wasted like 10 hours of my time and a nights sleep. I will continue using pt4 and wont be spreading any bad words about this issue ...but i still think it wasnt a false positive.... thats why im updating to the seemingly clean version.... but im not paranoid and i am not crazy ... I am still convinced that my current (before update) PT4 version got compromised by a trojan (which i must have brought home on a flash disk etc....) otherwise I cant find any rational explanation as to why i am the only sad mofo with a false positive on this (i just think there would be a lot more of us...dunno just try to look into it if you ever get super bored and think there's at least a mini chance that im right)

I wish you a nice day and sorry if any of my posts in this topic was rude or offensive ...

If you have problems on only one computer it is possible that has picked up an infection from elsewhere, and of course that could affect any file. If you have removed the offending files and re-0downloaded from this site and you're having problems getting your AV software to ignore the file then I'm afraid you'll need to take that up with them - since the PT4 install is showing as clean on your other systems then it doesn't seem to be a problem with the installer itself.

We'll be happy to help you follow this up, though - please open a Support Ticket with a link to this thread and a summary of the current situation and that will allow us to discuss with you in more detail and set up a remote session if necessary.

Just for reference, "TiltCommunicator" is similar to the StarsCommunicator file - it does (did) the same thing for Rush tables.

Ok I will do that. but I cant find the log file ...even though i have the ENABLE LOGGING option ticked (i always have/had it ticked for weeks now) ...where do I find the PT4.log ? should it be in the root folder of PT 4 ?

Summary : updated succesfull to .18 from your web and AV soft detected NO infection NO error nada...so right now all works great (btw the update to .18 was stunningly quick including big DB's !! thumbs up for that)

To find the log file click File --> Show User Data Folder in the main PT4 window. A window will open that has the log file in it - it's the text file that is called PokerTracker4 that's there.
