PokerTracker

hi,

I have been trying to open PT4 for a couple of days but it keeps saying " a version of pokertracker is already running"
But I can't find it running om my mac. restarted it with forced log out ,but nothing. `please advice how to solve this .

Open Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal and run this command:

rm ~/.pokertracker4.pid

Then you should be able to restart PT4. Also you may need to upgrade to the latest version of PT4 - we fixed some issues that cause this kind of behavior and if you aren't running 4.09, you'll want to upgrade to get the benefit of those fixes so this does not happen again.

thanks I have done it and it worked the first time.

I also downlaoded the lastest pt 4 , but today I have the same problem. But this time you advice out the terminal doesn't work anymore .

Have you tried rebooting? That should allow you to run it again. Did you have any problems? Was PT4 shut down properly before you ran the installer or tried to re-run PT4?

not sure if it was closed correct but it was working at first ok.
I have reboot it but it is still saying that a version is running.

Does the .pid file that kraada mentioned exist? Since its filename begins with a dot you won't see it in Finder by default - what error message do you get when you run kraada's command now?

it gives the following in the terminal :

-bash: rm~/.pokertracker4.pid: No such file or directory

I tried it again and now it is working again.
it is really strange
hopefully it will stay normal now

That's good to hear - thanks for the update. Be sure to close PT4 down before shutting your Mac off so that things can be tidied up correctly, although if you shut your mac down normally then it should close PT4 OK too. I'm sure you know this, but do not turn the power off directly as that can harm your computer.
