Postby itstime » Mon Feb 22, 2010 2:07 am

Hello

i couldnt start my pokertracker, cause it says pokertracker was unable to connect to any postgresql database. So i started doing the pokertracker3 manual uninstall/reinstall of postgresql. I got to page 13 where you choose English. then when i went to start, it would not work anymore. said something about checking to see if the program was for window...? i dont even know what postgresql is... how can i fix my problem? do you need me to send something? thanks.

PostgreSQL is a database, specifically it's the database that PT3 uses to store your statistics, which is why you need to have it installed in order for PT3 to function properly.

Were you able to finish the reinstall process per our documentation? If not, exactly where did you get stuck and what error message did you receive?

I get to the section that says it click postgresql-8.3msi then choose English. I choose English then start and this pops up:

Windows Installer it says: this installation package could not be opened. verify that the package exists and that you can assess it, or contact the application vendor to verifty that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

and should i be installing the postgresql 8.3 version?

Thanks.

You need to extract the files from the zip first before you run the installer. Once you extract the files you won't get that message.

thanks. but im stuck again. it finished installing, but i went through different steps than the manual.
at the initialize database cluster, i changed my encoding source and client to match the manual and made it WIN1252. At the stack builder 2.0.0 section, my box was psqlODBC v08.04.0100-1, not psqlODBC v08.04.0100. Then it never ask me to select my country. do you know what is wrong? still says pokertracker cant connect to postqsl... and my account domain was Thanks, not my name.. if that means anything.

You do not need psqlODBC for PT3. There is no need to install it.

but the manual says to choose psqlODBC under the section Database Drivers. Should I start the uninstall/ restall again and not choose psqlODBC? Thanks.

PT3 will work whether you install it or not. So it's fine if you install it.

Do you know whether it's required for legacy PT applications such as PT: Stud?

I'm not aware of a requirement there but you'd be better of asking in the PT Stud forum as they know Stud better there.
