Importing HH's from HEM archived folders

Postby slycbnew » Sat May 15, 2010 7:58 am

I just bought PTS.

I use HEM for my omaha and holdem hands (sorry  ), and have a set of archive folders set up for when HEM is done processing these. I play mixed games, so I always have HEM running, and am now running PTS at the same time.

When I get hh files from the site, they are saved to this path: C:\handhistories\pokerstars\username\.. (and equiv for full tilt)

When HEM is done processing the files, they are moved to this path: C:\hand history archive\2010\month\date\..

I don't use the autoimport function in PTS, I'm manually selecting files to import.

So, here's the thing - if I import the files before the files are moved to the archive path, there's no problem. I can import them over and over again if I feel like it (it'll just tell me that zero hands were imported because they were already imported). However, if I try to import the files after they are moved to the archive path (which occurs either when I close the poker site client or when I close HEM), nothing happens - I click the "select files to import" button, select the files in the popup, click ok, and literally nothing happens - no processing, no reading, no messages.

I've tried copying the files to a new folder, and copying the files back to the C:\..\username\.. path, neither of these work.

Any ideas? Thanks!

HEM must do something to the files so they are not the same foramt as what PTS is looking for. That is all I can think of.

Try opening one of the files, then make a new Notepad file and copy/paste the contents into the new file. Name it whatever you want, then use File > Import... to manually import that one file. If it works then they must be encoding the file differently when they archive it. If it does the same thing (nothing) then create a support ticket and attach that file you created for the test.

Hi mike, thanks for the quick reply!

I figured it out. I have all files being processed by HEM being saved to the same archive folders. If I only select the stud and mixed game history files, no problem. However, trying to simply read all the files in the folders fails (i.e., in the select import files dialogue, click the first file name and shift click the last file name) - especially HH's for PLO on pokerstars. I'm assuming that the new file name conventions for big bet games (w the new 40-100BB tables etc) are not being recognized.

fwiw, it'd be convenient if I could just select all the files in the folder rather than having to go through the files and figure out which ones are the stud hh's - I play stud, mixed games, various omaha games, and various holdem games on PS and FT, and I play a lot of tables in a single day.

Thanks again for your prompt reply!

You should set up a generic auto-import process for this purpose. Use File > Auto-Import Hand Histories > Generic Setup... and tell it to import from the archive folder. That will have the program read through all the files without you having to manually select them every time.
