Installing PostGreSQL "Over Itself" from different OS?

OK, I'm in the "new OS" and, as noted in the Support Ticket (94657), tried to install ver 8.3.5, got an Error: "Another version...is already installed. Installation cannot continue....Add/Remove...".
I fear that, if I were to remove ver 8.3.x, then try to reinstall ver 8.3.5 on this OS, it will also remove it from the "old OS', and, when/if I were to try to reinstall ver 8.3.5 on the "Old OS", I'll just get the same Error Message, catch-22.

I'm afraid this is not fun any more, unless we can find a way to "force install" ver 8.3.5 on the "new OS" without interfering with the one on the old one.

I haven't done anything like this so I'm not sure - someone will get back to you via your ticket and we'll sort it out there.

No worries for over the weekend, I'll do my poker playing on the "old OS", and I hope we'll be able to get this fixed; if I do have to accept a "PostgreSQL goes on either the old OS or the new OS, but not both" situation, clearly I will go for the new one, as it is a cleaner, faster OS.

I'm delighted to report that, after Derek's Remote Assistance Session, I now have PostgreSQL installed, and working as intended, on both OSs , to my complete satisfaction. Your support is outstanding, folks, and my thanks

That's great! I thought it ought to be possible but I haven't done much of that kind of thing - sorry I wasn't able to help you myself, but at least you got it sorted.
