PT3 vs HEM on CEREUS

Postby eryanb » Thu Dec 09, 2010 1:30 am

I own full versions of both PT3 and HEM. I love KRADAS ADV HUD so I run autoimport with PT3 and run PT3 HUD while playing. But I prefer HEM for post game analysis.

Anyway point is. PT3 is lacking big time compared to HEM with respect to import errors. I've noticed this for months but I've just procrastinated saying anything. PT3 routinely misses around 0.1% of my CEREUS hands. I would never notice if I didn't have HEM to compare. Today a 200BB pot was completely missing on PT3.

In addition. The rake reported by PT3 is always substantially off by at least -9% compared to HEM which is a massive margin for error.

P.S. these observations are based on well over 600,000 hands from this year alone. The %'s quoted are from comparing individual months.

What version of PT3 are you using?
Please attach the hand history files for the affected hands to a Support ticket so that we can check them out and get anything that is wrong fixed.

I'm not sure how I can find the 0.1% of the HH's that didn't import properly. I have the latest version of PT3. I always run the current updates. Luckily I do have the obvious 200bb HH from today, so I can send that, but I'm really not sure if its' the same issue with the other 33 missing hands out of 28,324 for this month.

I do know that every month it's always PT3 missing the ~0.1% not HEM, so it's not random. I get the same HH files as everybody else and this has been happening for months.

It's really hard to find the 33 hands out of 28,324 this month that are missing. What I do know is that consistently it is PT3 missing the 0.1% hands, never HEM. So it's not random.

I've noticed this for months and I always run the latest updates. Today is the first time a 200BB hand has been missed so I could include that HH, but everybody gets the same HH format as I do.

Please attach the hand history file with the error from today, and next time you get any errors please attach those hand history files too.

Dec. 2010.
Hands Reported by HEM 120989
Hands Reported by PT3 120874 (0.1% error)

Rake Reported by HEM $7466.55
Rake Reported by PT3 $6726.15 (-10% error)

Are you guys doing anything to catch up to HEM on this? Every month it's PT3 with the import errors.

It's nearly impossible for me to find out which of the hands make up the 0.1% missing hands but last month and this month I had at least one obvious hand missing. Example posted below is a hand from 2011 that produced an import error with PT3 but no problems with HEM as usual.

Thanks – I have reported this to the development team to be fixed. If you want to get a notification when the fix is released please create a Support ticket and include a link to this thread. If you identify any other hands which don't import please attach the hand history file to your ticket.

Is this a hand from the Cereus client? The hand you posted as your example is not a valid hand. The player PURPLE6811 does not appear in the seat list, yet he posts a big blind. This is why we are throwing an error, to warn the user that the hand is not valid.

Ya that hand is directly from the Cereus client. I'm not sure if the other 0.1% of missing hands every month are due to a similar problem.

HEM still picked up the hand. Here is pasted from their HH viewer. Maybe they've known about this problem for awhile and have something in their code that assigns the 1 missing seat to the one player not listed in the seat list.

The danger is that if one piece of information is missing from the hand then there could be something else too. Being precise about importing hands means that you won't get incorrect information imported when something more drastic is wrong. In a case like this you can check the hand and if you're sure it's complete other than the missing seat then you can add that in and the hand will import.
