Somewhat. I haven't yet had a chance to run any speed comparisons, but a few things in the query planner that have changed and some configuration settings that have improved lead me to believe you'll see a small but noticeable performance boost. Once I've had a chance to do that testing, I'll let you know.

Have there been any problems with v9, i.e. is it safe to upgrade?

No problems with PostgreSQL 9 have been reported, and we do have at least one member of the development team using it regularly.

In fact, I personally plan on upgrading, when I get a chance (mostly annoying is moving my databases over, tbh).

Hmm... I'm planning to start a new DB in January so that would sound like a good time... but I assume I need to convert my old one if I plan to use it for HUD stats?

Yes. You should be able to restore it from a PT3 Backup though, I'm just a bit lazy about doing it myself

I took the leap and installed postgres 9.0.2, 64 bit. (I run win7 x64) I did not have any problems until recently.

This problem has duplicated, so I will describe it.

After using my current year database for a bit, and running housekeeping, what should be a 600k hand database only showed about 6000 of my hands. Nothing I could do would bring it back to displaying all my hands.

I had to create a new database, and re-import all the text files again. This did solve the problem, so I thought cool.. maybe it was because on the first database I did a restore, rather than a full re-import.

About a week later, I ran housekeeping again, analyze, vacuum, update cache, and the problem has returned.
It is only showing a small fraction of my hands. I had run house keeping successfully on this database a few times before this problem reared its ugly head again. The hands will not show and adding/removing filters does not affect the totals.

I'm not sure what to do about this but thought I would post my issues.

How large is this database? If you try running a Cache Rebuild, does that fix the issue?

This database is 600k hands.

I just tried rebuilding the cache, and it does look normal again. Let me work with this and see if that fixed it.

been running v9.0 for a few weeks *64 bit* on win 7 64bit. I have had no problems that I know of once I got it installed.

Note that it took about 5 attempts to get it installed correctly (and about 5 attempts to get PT3 installed correctly) Though this may be a win 7 issue, not a postgre issue I believe. I just kept re-running the installer from the top and it gradually got there.

But once they were installed importing a backup of the DB from it's prior state (on win XP/ postgre8x) worked just fine.
