uninstall/reinstall postgres SQL

Postby airfull » Sun Apr 10, 2011 3:47 am

Hello

I'm having trouble with PT3 since few days. When i start PT3, i get an error message "unable to connect to database". So i close the window and start PT3 one more time and then it works.
Today i've decided to reinstall PostgreSQL adn follow this document

http://www.pokertracker.com/products/PT ... greSQL.pdf

On page 7 it says to type "net user postgres/delete" on the prompt command and i get this

The UAC is disabled and i've try with "right click and run as administrator". Can I continue the procédure safely ?

Thanks for help

There is a space in that command - you need this: "net user postgres /delete"

That looks like the PostgreSQL service isn't starting correctly the first time.
After you reboot your computer, click Start (on XP click Run), type services.msc and hit enter. In the window that appears, locate the PostgreSQL service. What are the Status and Startup Type?
Assuming that it is not "Started", right click it and choose Start. Does it start?
If you run PT3 then, it should start up OK?

Which version of PostgreSQL do you have?
PT3 will only start the default 8.3 version that is installed automatically. If you have a later version installed you will need to either launch it manually (as above or via the Start menu), or configure it to start automatically by right clicking it and choosing Properties, then setting the startup type to Automatic.

Ok white rider

I ' m using the very last version of PostgreSQL 8.3 (i reinstalled it last week end because of that problem). I've been just restart my computer and look to seervices.
The service "PostgreSQL Database server 8.3" has started and is set to "automatic start". So i've tryed to start PT3, and it works fine.

Maybe the problem appears only the compouter is stopped ? I'll Try PT3 tomorrow (i need my computer right now) and i'll tell you if there's something new.

Anyway, thanks for help ! :)
