How Do I delete my database?

Postby Azn1nvas1on » Thu May 19, 2011 8:53 pm

I have a bunch of hands that have been imported over time playing online and now I want to start on a new slate. How do I get rid of all the hands? Do I just click Database, and then Database Management, and then click Delete as I have only one Database running (says Default/Active).

The best thing to do is to start a create a new database. If you set that to Default and Active it will be used instead of your existing database. You can then delete the old database if you like, but there is no need other than recovering disk space (and you may find a use for the old information).

I was thinking of creating a new database to use when playing. Idea was to import only a year old hands to this new database so I would know how my opponents are playing more recently. I also would like to keep the old one to do reports. So I would like to have two databases to choose from. One with all my hand histories and one to use with HUD that only has more recent hand histories.

So how should I do this. Create a new database, set it active or default or both? Then manually import the more recent hand histories, do housekeeping and when I play using this new database my autoimport would only keep the new database up to date and maybe once a month change database to the old one and manually import the new autoimported hands. Would this work? Im not sure when to set each database to active or default or both.

This will work. You'll want to set the one with your more recent histories to default and keep it active most of the time.

The Active database is the one that's currently open and displaying data for you. The Default database is the one that is Active when you open PT3.

So you'll keep your new database Active while playing, then when you want to switch to import your new hands to your old database, set the old database to active, import the intervening hands, and analyze away.
