And on Windows 7 and some Vista machines, it makes a difference. Please uncomment that line and try again.

Click Start, click Run, type services.msc and hit enter. Find postgres in the list. Is it started? If not, does it start successfully if you click on it and click Start?

Also you may want to check to make sure your firewall/anti-virus is not blocking PostgreSQL - see our Firewall Troubleshooting Guide for details on how to configure most of the common firewall software.

Try using 127.0.0.1 in the connect box in PT3 then and see if that works better for you than localhost.

Then please restart PT3 using the Logging Enabled link on your Start menu, reproduce and report this problem so that we can investigate further. Please also include the PostgreSQL logs so that we can see if there are any issues on that side of it. Having followed the steps that you did, this issue should not be recurring and we need more data to figure out what is going on.

Anybody know how to fix this with postgresql 8.2 ?

Trying to install 9.0 and i NEED a password, and i have no idea what that password is... tried all the mentioned standardpasswords (wich i really KNOW is the password i promted), yet still it says its incorrect.

Tried to put trust in the mentioned file but i still cant get away with just clicking Next without a password.
