active / default DB

I want to keep all my hands in the same Db , but have new fresh hud stats at my table.

Can I achieve this by keeping my large Db as the Default and creating a new one and making this the active one. and will any notes I take in the HUD be recorded in the default ?

You'll need to reimport the hands from the new database in your large database if you want to see your own results combined, but otherwise that will work. Just make sure to configure your HUD to only use the smaller database - you can set that up on the Hud Options tab (which in under the Configure Hud section). Any notes taken in the HUD are taken in all databases which are being used in the HUD - so it'd only go in the new small database.
