In Terminal:

sudo chmod -R 700/Library/PostgreSQL/8.4/
usage: chmod [-fhv] [-R [-H | -L | -P]] [-a | +a | =a [i][# [ n]]] mode|entry file ...
chmod [-fhv] [-R [-H | -L | -P]] [-E | -C | -N | -i | -I] file ...

This time the typo is yours - there's a space between 700 and /Library/PostgreSQL/8.4/.

It looked like it switched everything back but it still is not working and getting the same errors?
This literally worked yesterday and only reason I changed access was to submit a log for a ticket but the webpage kept freezing for me so I was unable to do so.

The access settings must be in the original state in order for the server to start properly - otherwise it errors out with the information you've seen. The -R flag should have set those permissions recursively - are you sure the error when attempting to start the server is completely identical (make sure the date is new when looking at the Console - the old error will still be there).

These are the errors in Console but PT3 is acting the same as it has been since the error.

That seems to be saying that it can't even find your PostgreSQL startup files. Did you delete anything in the PostgreSQL's bin directory?

No not at all. I copied one log file and tried uploading it into an email to be looked at but that never worked. What are my options I am losing a database with 500K+ Hands 3-4 years of data.
The only thing that was odd when I went into the "get info" for the data folder.. there was a user "dameon" or something like that and that user wasn't in any other files just that one. I am the only user of this Mac.

The easiest way to solve this is to just upgrade. You will not lose any existing data doing this.

1) Download PostgreSQL 8.4.8-1 (Mac)
2) Double-click the dmg file and it will open up a new finder window.
3) Double-click the installer postgresql-8.4.8-1-osx
4) If you get a warning click open and if you are prompted for your admin password enter it.
5) Click "Next >" about four times, then wait for it to install.
6) Uncheck the "Launch Stack Builder?" at exit checkbox.
7) Click Finish.

If everything completed with no errors you should be able to run PT3 as normal. Note you can reinstall PostgreSQL as much as you want and it will not delete your data as long as you never uninstall first.

If you continue to have trouble please post the last few entries from your Console log again.

I followed all of those steps and everything was successful, but PT3 is still having the same errors. Here are the log errors:
