'configure postgreSQL databse' ???

Postby Gooner933 » Sun Jul 03, 2011 12:57 pm

I have been using pt3 on a regular basis for the past couple of years. However, recently I ran into some problems with my p.c. I have now had it fixed but am unable to get onto PT3. When I double-click it, I get a window saying 'configure postgreSQL database' with a 'name' and 'postgreSQL server information' sections.

When I try to create a database:
Unable to create PostgreSQL database: PT3_2011_07_03_173227
Reason: Unable to login to database (template1). Reason: could not connect to server: Connection refused (0x0000274D/10061) Is the server running on host "???" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432?

When I click 'this database already exists' and connect:
Unable to connect to PostgreSQL database: PT3_2011_07_03_173227
Reason: Unable to login to database (PT3_2011_07_03_173227). Reason: could not connect to server: Connection refused (0x0000274D/10061) Is the server running on host "???" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432?

I don't know what to do. I obviously already have a vast pt3 database which I need to access before being able to continue playing.

I am unsure if the problem is a result of my p.c troubles (which involved changing ram + swapping battery + changing power supply) or if this has something to do with my trying unsuccessfully to upgrade postgresql just before my p.c crashed.

Thanks for your help,

That error is implying that PostgreSQL is not running. Could you please check to see if it's installed on your system?

Does it start if you go to Services (click Start, on XP click Run, and type "services.msc") and try to start the PostgreSQL service?
Do you see any PostgreSQL errors in the Event Viewer? (Start, type "event")

Thanks for your help,

Indeed when I went into Services (click Start, on XP click Run, and type "services.msc") and tried to start the PostgreSQL service, for some reason it was listed as disabled. Changed it to automatic and clicked 'start' and its all working again.

thanks

Check our Firewall Guide to make sure your firewall isn't interfering.
If it still happens check the Event Viewer (click Start and type "event", or find it via Control Panel on XP) for errors related to PostgreSQL and post the error here or attach a screenshot to a Support ticket.

Hi, I have the same problem, I red this comments and solutions but I can´t understand, where can I find the "Services" as Gooner wrote:

I would like to repair it this way as gooner wrote, but I dont know where to find "services" or where to click to "run" etc.

Thanks for advice.

If you're running Windows Vista or newer, just click the windows icon at the bottom left of the screen and type Services, then click on what appears. The rest of the directions will be identical.
