Pokertracker not connecting to databases

Postby JediMethod » Mon Sep 05, 2011 12:42 pm

This issue just came up today and I'm not sure what is causing it. When I opened PT3 today I got a pop up window saying that it could not connect to the defaut database, please select a valid database from the list below.

The only database that it would let me connect to is the original db that was set up with the installation of pt3 "PT3 Database" or w/e it is called. If I set that as the new default it at least lets me get in. I then decided I wanted to set up a new db since its probably time anyway but it wouldn't let me. When I tried I get this:

Unable to create PostgreSQL database:
PT3_............"
Reason: Unable to login to database:
PT3............."
Reason: Server closed the connection unexpectedly. This probably means the server terminated abnormally before or while processing the request.

I know that I had a Mcafee update since the last time I played, and I think I had a Windows Vista upgrade too, not sure on this though.

I've tried looking around this forum to see if somebody is having a similar issue but haven't found anything.

Any help here to get me up and running would be awesome though. Thanks.

I just went into postgres from my start menu and clicked 'start service' then I was able to get into my database. So I think that has fixed my problem

Any idea why this would come up now though?

Edit: Okay, it looks like i jumped the gun and prematurely thought I fixed my own problem. After clicking start service I was able to set my usual database back to the default and therefore assumed that everything was good. I played a hand and then tried to import it was unable to connect... So still in need of some help getting things worked out if possible.

FWIW, when i look at the import screen, it says that the hand that I played was infact imported. But I cannot connect to the database and see the hand.

Okay I think (hope) I fixed this again. Google seems to search out better results within forums than the internal search. Same goes for 2p2.

Anyhow this thread seemed to have helped: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=30601&p=149279

I went into run > services msc and found that postgres was already started so I tried stopping and restarting it. Then refreshed pt3 and was able to see the hand that I played today so hoping that works.

Will post again ldo if it didn't.

You may want to check the Firewall Guide to make sure you have everything set up correctly if you have further problems.
