It really shouldn't. It might happen though if you installed a firewall or antivirus which could keep the server from running properly.

I have just looked at my postgres folder and it is empty. How could this be? Does that mean that everything is gone? Or are handhistories stored elsewhere?

That's where all of your data should be. Is it possible it was quarantined by your antivirus? If so, restoring it should fix things.

I have checked the virus vault and it does not seem to be in there. Do you mean restoring POSTGRES? how do i do this? i have looked at the size of postgress in uninstall programs and this file size is 120gb. Whilst my postgres user folder only has links to the desktop.

You didn't mention if your PT4 was running before and how long, or this is a first install?

did you change your internet connection from wireless to direct by chance, or other way around?

Hello

Have been running pt4 since the beta was released, and have had no problems. I believe that it was running off the pt3 database, or possibly not. The only thing on my pc changed since then is that I installed an ftp client, but should this have had an affect. Additionally I only ever tether a connection through my mobile, so no changes there.

I meant restoring the file from quarantine. If your PostgreSQL folder is empty, there is no way to recover that data. You will need to uninstall and reinstall PostgreSQL - you can find details on how to do that on our documentation page.
