(I have not given up, but needed to go to sleep)

[quote="Josh"e0j]skoldpadda, it looks like you tried to uninstall PT3 with it still running. Make sure you close it prior to uninstalling.

So at this point, the PostgreSQL installation starts, but gives you that "initdb" error, correct? I've gotten this error too, and it was caused because the PostgreSQL directory previously existed and it couldn't overwrite the information. What you need to do is to delete the "C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL" directory from your harddrive, then try installing PostgreSQL. I really recommend using PT3 to install PostgreSQL, as it's a lot less overwhelming that way (and less error prone too).

Can you tell me what happens when that directory is deleted and PT3 tries to install PostgreSQL again?[/quotee0j]

OK, I did uninstall (and delete the C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL) again and gave it one more attempt (downloading PT3 with PostgreSQL) and got the same initdb error. I'm pretty sure I have administrator privileges under the owner account (since I have access to all of the admin tools and had the ability to use them-- see pic of menu). Now when I tried again I got not only the initdb error message but also this new one:

I am pretty unsaavy at the computer as I'm sure you can tell by now, so if you can continue to walk me through how to analyze these errors, I would greatly appreciate it.

Here's the admin stuff I do have control over:

After deleting the directory, did you also run the "net user postgres /delete" command?

Yes I did and I'm back to the same error as the OP.

I'm going to have to send this problem to Derek. I don't know enough about PostgreSQL to be of any more help. He'll be back in a few hours and should be able to assist you further. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ok, thanks. I guess I'll try again tomorrow if you guys have any new ideas. This sucks not being able to use it -- all my buddies are impressed with it.

Go Start->Run, type "cmd" then OK.

Run the following two commands (separately) and provide me a screenshot of the results:

[codeoba]net user

net localgroup "Administrators"[/codeoba]

Best regards,

Derek

Switch / Solo / Maestro I'm guessing?

Ideally, PokerStars transfer or other sites would be nice so we can avoid the ridiculous £->$ conversion fees Credit cards / PayPal levy us with for £ accounts. Neteller would be great for us but I think you've ruled that out being USA etc.)
