Auto Notes wrong Stack Sizes?

Postby mista_nice_guy » Wed Apr 02, 2014 9:53 am

Hi, I'm trying to understand how note tracker calculates stack sizes? I think they are too low?

This is the hand:

PokerStars - $6.45+$0.55|15/30 NL - Holdem - 9 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4: http://www.pokertracker.com

UTG+2: 48 BB (VPIP: 25.00, PFR: 25.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 4)
MP: 49.67 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 4)
MP+1: 49 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 4)
CO: 83.33 BB (VPIP: 50.00, PFR: 25.00, 3Bet Preflop: 50.00, Hands: 4)
BTN: 49 BB (VPIP: 17.78, PFR: 13.95, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 45)
SB: 27 BB (VPIP: 50.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 4)
Hero (BB): 50 BB
UTG: 43 BB (VPIP: 50.00, PFR: 50.00, 3Bet Preflop: -, Hands: 4)
UTG+1: 51 BB (VPIP: 25.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 4)

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has Kd Ts
fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, CO raises to 3 BB, fold, SB raises to 5 BB, fold, CO calls 2 BB

Flop : (11 BB, 2 players) 6s 7d 5c
SB bets 4 BB, CO calls 4 BB

Turn : (19 BB, 2 players) 4s
SB bets 4 BB, CO raises to 22 BB, SB calls 14 BB and is all-in

River : (55 BB, 2 players) Kc

SB shows Ad Jc (High Card, Ace) (Pre 73%, Flop 84%, Turn 84%)
CO shows 2d As (High Card, Ace) (Pre 27%, Flop 16%, Turn 16%)
SB wins 55 BB

These are the notes:

AutoNote for SB: 3Bet Not All-In (Eff. Stacks: BB >= 10) with {cardrange:AJo}
AutoNote for SB: Player: CMOTPN Note: 3Bet Blind vs Steal Not All-In (Eff. Stacks: BB >= 13) with {cardrange:AJo} -->IMO the eff. stack size should be much higher??
AutoNote for CO: Called a 3Bet In Position (Eff. Stacks: BB >= 25) with {cardrange:A2o} -->IMO the eff. stack size should be much higher??

Those notes say the effective stack is at least 13 and 25, respectively. SB's effective stack size is 27BB so it's more than both 13 and 25.

Thanks you for your answer. What I don't understand is: Why doesn't the note just say 27 BB?
And why does the first note say BB >= 10, while the second one says BB >= 13, even though they describe the same action.
I'm aware that the 27 BB stack indeed is bigger than 10 and 13 BB. I'm just trying to understand why note tracker chooses BB >= 10 and BB >= 13.

Those notes are designed to show you which hands a player made the action with when they had more than the defined stack size. It isn't telling you the stack size that the player made the action with, only that their effective stack was higher than the defined amount.

Okay, I understand that. But why does it take 10 BB and 13 BB? And not the same amount of BB in both cases (e.g. 13 BB both times), since it is the same hand?

That's the way the notes are defined. ">=" means "greater than or equal to"; the stack sizes in the notes were developed in conjunction with tournament pro Shaun Deeb and those were the ranges he thought most useful for the various situations.
