Hangs when installing PostgreSQL

should i just wait till the beta trial is over? I'm sure you guys are busy and it seems like i might be an isolated case. i just find it very strange that it is the same error on two different machines running two different operating systems.

I do think it is odd that you are one of a few people having this issue and it is on two computers that you own. There is no other third party software installed on both machines that would be affecting anything?

The only 3rd party software on both machines are what I have already listed. I have had some programs installed on both computers but have since taken them off. These would include.

System Mechanic Pro
Sixth Sense
Whatver software came with Netgear SC101 Storage http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/sc101v1.asp
This product was a total piece of crap that i read nothing but bad reviews on after i had already bought and installed it unfortunately

It is possible i have had some other programs installed on both but I doubt it. I think I have remembered them all. I do have another machine that has no poker programs on it and never had the Netgear SC101 installed on it either. I can try it on that just to see what happens.

okay, i successfully installed it on my wife's laptop. she is running XP.

i have installed system mechanic on her comp before but i took it off a long time ago. so i do not think that is the problem.
she also has the same HP Printer software installed so that is not the problem.

She never had Sixth Sense which both my computers do.
She never had the software for the SC101 installed on her comp.

My unschooled computer intuitiveness says maybe this Netgear Sc101 is the problem. I remember having to install some wierd things to get it to run correctly.
This was a box where you slid in old IDE drives and you could attach them for network storage.

What do you think?

Have you done a complete uninstall of any software for the Netgear? Do you remember what you may have done in addition to the regular install? It is hard to tell but it almost seems like too much of a coincidence.

I did not do anything other than the regular install, but it installed some services I know and I remember reading on a forum somewhere people complaining about the things it installed. I think it had something to do with telnet or znet services. I did do a complete uninstall of though and did a reg clean to get rid of the extra stuff. I am pretty much at a loss now for what to do. I really don't want to reinstall windows or anything like that. I guess I will just have to make do with PTv2. Let me know if you have any ideas of how I should proceed to get this to work.

well, i did a system restore on my xp machine to before i installed the netgear hardware and i still get the same error message. so maybe it isnt that. any ideas?

I am pretty confident at this point that its some type of Windows issue not necessarily related to PostgreSQL although its affecting the postgres user and service.

Let me dig around and see if I can find anything useful.

In no way have I given up and I hope that you continue to work with us. This will definitely improve PT3 and help with future issues I greatly appreciate your patience.
