Can't import tourney summaries

Postby HeroInBlack » Wed Jun 04, 2008 9:59 pm

In case it matters, this is on a Vista computer.

When I use the Import Hand Histories/Tournament Summaries command, and then check POP3 email, it sees the summaries there, but after I check the emails I want to download and tell it to import, I get an error that says "File contains no Texas Hold'em hands or unable to determine what poker site this file came from."

I am running release 2.17.02a.

Are you running PT as admin as detailed here?

Yeah, I learned that lesson very early on after I got this laptop. Just to be sure, though, I opened it again just now and clicked "run as administrator" instead of counting on it to remember my setting to always do so, and had the same problem.

Okay, I just had the same problem on another computer of mine that has XP. I think the problem is starting from my email (which is on bellsouth.net, which is now owned by AT&T). I will post what the subject line and message text look like here and maybe you can see if they are doing something that will make it not work.

Actually I probably should have edited my email address in that so I don't get spam emails. Maybe you could edit that for me? Thanks.

That summary looks fine.

On the window that comes up with all the emails, click the "Save to file" option for one of them and then tell it a folder to save the file to. Then try to import it. After it gives you the error, go to that folder and find the file that was created and open it. Is it empty? If not, copy/paste the text from it. If it's empty, what kind of anti-virus software are you running? I'm wondering if something like that could be causing PT problems getting the text of the emails.

Pat:

With your help, I have figured it out.

AVG free version 7 ended a week or two ago. Version 8's email scanner was stopping the emails from importing, although it wasn't saying it was doing anything at all.

I did what you said and imported to a file. That file was blank Then I turned off the AVG email scanner and did it again and it worked perfectly.

Thanks a ton.

I have the same problem with importing PokerStars tournament summaries as HeroInBlack. The import was working fine, but since three days the same error appears: File contains no Texas Hold'em hands or unable to determine what poker site this file came from.

I tried to import the summaries by check email, POP3 and copied the text to a file - always the same error.
I also checked my anti-virus software (Avast4), same settings as before the error.
Running version 2.17.02a

Any suggestions how to fix this problem?

Please do what I asked the other person to do in the previous post...

...On the window that comes up with all the emails, click the "Save to file" option for one of them and then tell it a folder to save the file to. Then try to import it. After it gives you the error, go to that folder and find the file that was created and open it. Is it empty? If not, copy/paste the text from it.....

Sorry, I forgot to write in my post. Of course I tried out your previous tips without any success.

Meanwhile I noticed why it wasn't working. I received my emails from PokerStars in german. I haven't changed the settings and does not know why this happened.

Nevertheless thank you for your fast answer, pat; and shame on me for not noticing that stupid fault.
