Password problem

Postby Fictive » Fri Jul 18, 2008 2:23 pm

I tried to search the forums for an asnwer but couldn't find one.

I was compacting my poker databases and during the process my computer crashed, due to some other things I was doing at the same time. Now I can't open the program anymore.

Once I start PokerTracker, I get this error box "ODBC Microsoft Access" saying something about Microsoft Jet and so on (the part isn't in english and I'm having a hard time translating it) Nevertheless, the box has the OK and cancel buttons, and once I click ok another box opens up and it asks me a password to log in. In the user part it says "admin", and I have no clue about the password as I have never entered any sort of a password anywhere. So what should I do now? Thanks.

There is no password so if you are getting prompted for one it means the db file is corrupted.

Go to the c:\program files\poker tracker v2 folder. There should be a file there called ptrack_backup.mdb that was created before the compact started. Rename the ptrack.mdb file to ptrack_bad.mdb and then rename the backup file to ptrack.mdb and then try to start PT again.

I found the files, and tried renaming them, but that didn't help. I suppose I don't have much of a choice but to un-install then re-install the program.

Actually, now that I think about it, there was no ptrack_backup.mdb file. There are only ptrack.mdb, ptrack_bad.mdb and ptrack_repair.mdb. I might've messed things up more because I think I made the ptrack_bad file into ptrack, and ptrack into ptrack_bad... So I suppose I screwed things up bad enough that I have no choice but to install the software again...

Was there any other file with "backup" in the name? The ptrack file is only if you hadn't created another database which you probably have. Open the File > Maintain Database Names window in PT. Double-click on the name of the database entry marked with the "Dflt" box checked. What is the file name/size that shows in the window that opens?

Nope, there was no file that included "backup".

The other part, from PT. The filename is G:\Poker Tracker V2\Poker Tracker V2\ptrack.mdb. The file size is 604,037KB.

You can try to rebuild your database by using the hands stored in the hand history database. See the 4th thread of this post for more details:

That doesn't work either. The link you gave worked fine until step 8. Up to that point everything went pretty much ok. Step 6 I was told to open Poker Tracker, and once I did, I got the same Windows Jet error. I clicked cancel so that Icould continue this process. After step 7, (where I hit the configure button and wrote down the folder I had created in step 2, I went to click the ok button and got the following error message instantly: "Database error - Error deleting from PREFS table: The error was: 0 - Transaction not connected". I'm at a loss here... Don't know what else to try as that link you gave didn't work either. Until the end anyway. Any other suggestions or do I just need to download PT v2 again and then contact you for a new product ID/registration code? If you don't know any other things for me to try, a big thanks anyway for helping out as much as you could.

~Edited~

I decided to try one more thing. I opened up PT again, and again I got Windows Jet-thigney, but this time I clicked ok, and I got that password/username admin-thing. From that box, on the right there were folders, so I opened PokerTracker's folder, chose the "ptrack"-file. then I just clicked ok on the password part, and now I got far enough to start and force the hand exporting. It's still in the process so I don't know how it'll end up. Regardless, even if PT doesn't work properly, if it works by clicking on the ptrack filename and then ok, it's no prob.

You shouldn't be getting that error if you changed out the databases, they should all be brand new. Open the File > Maintain Database Names window. Is there just one single entry on this window?

No, there were two database names. I've had two names there for ages and hasn't done anything before. The other name was checked as default (the one I mentioned in an earlier post) and the other one was so that before the name of the database in the "open" column it had no. I did remove the other one because it isn't needed there, but that didn't help. Once the program had finished exporting hands, I went on to step9, one step compact option. At that point, I got again the same ODBC Microsoft access- error about Windows Jet and something about me trying to change data same time with another user or something to that affect...
