Database on Mac, PT3 on Windows (parallels)

Postby baiter » Thu Feb 14, 2008 10:52 am

Here is my story:

I use Boot Camp via Parallels for my entire poker setup. For some reason I can't install PostreSQL in Windows, and support is trying to figure this out right now.

However, I got it installed and working on the Mac (http://www.postgresqlformac.com/). Is there a way I can connect to this database from PT3 running in Parallels? It is set up where I can access all of my Mac files.

Here is the error I get:
Unable to connect to PostgreSQL database: PT3 1
Reason: Unable to login to database (PT3 1). Reason: could not connect to server: Connection refused (0x0000274D/10061) Is the server running on host "localhost" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432?

Any ideas on how I can get this to work?

I am unsure how boot camp / parallels configure their networking with the host OSX - and it is the important bit :(

Can you find out - do they share IP address or have an IP address each?

If the postgres setup is anything like it is on windows, you will have to change the pg_hba.conf file to allow 'remote' connections.
Some info on it here
