I set up a shared folder into which my processed files will be moved (I set that up in PT3) following the how to instructions you gave above. Now, how do I take my current database (on my main PC) and import all those files into my laptop's database so that they both have the same data?

Another question, how do I import hands from the shared folders? I want to do the manual import because it is faster, but I don't know how to. Where can I find instructions? Also, I would imagine that over time the files in my shared folder would build up and I don't want to have to import the same hands over and over again. How can I prevent reimporting the same hands from my shared folder?

To get the hands that are already in the database; if you still have the original files in the 'processed' folder, then just import from there (or copy them to your shared folder first); if not, you will need to Database -> Database Management -> Export.

You're right that manual import is faster, but once you've done that you will need to move the HH files somewhere else for backup to avoid them being re-read each time.
To run a manual import, just go to the manual import tab and click import from directory and browse to your shared folder.

I just want to make sure that I understand how to do this process correct. So I created a shared folder for my two computers to move their processed files to (I set this up in PT3 in "move processed files to" section). So I should also use this same folder to move my main database to the other computer by copying the processed files I have on my main computer and putting them into the shared folder. Then I should manually import these files on my second computer. Then after I complete that, I should move the files from the shared folder to a different folder. Should this different folder also be shared? Am I understanding the process correctly?

thanks

If I was doing this, I would have PC "A" move its processed files to folder "pa" and make sure that PC "B" has access to it.
Similarly have B move its processed files to another folder "pb".
I'd also then have another folder which they can both access where I will store all the HH files once they've been imported to both - call this "store".

When you finish playing on A and stop auto import so all the files have been moved to 'pa', have PT3 on B do a manual import of 'pa', then move the contents of 'pa' to 'store'.
After you play on B, the files are moved to 'pb', then run a manual import on A to import from 'pb' and then move the contents of 'pb' to 'store.

If you type 'cmd' at the Run prompt, then a comand prompt will appear (or start --> programs --> accessories --> command prompt I believe), from there ipconfig /all will show you your IP address and it won't vanish when it is complete.

You could still do the other stuff without this, but networking the database really is a better solution in the long term.

Ok it works with the cmd command so i follow the step B but

"Step B) simply add the line below to the bottom of your document:

host all all 192.168.1.0/24 md5

Save and exit.

Thanks for fooz for this extra info:
Now, go back to start -> programs -> postgresql -> configuration files -> postgresql.conf and add the following line to the end of the file:

listen_addresses = '*'

This tells your server to listen to ALL addresses your computer has, not just localhost (which is only accessible from the local computer)."

On wich computer do you make this ? i used to play on my desktop computer and i've recently buyed a laptop and want to play on it too.

Another question: Will it work if i go for example at my parents house, or a friend house and play on my laptop ?

Those settings are done on the server (the computer running PostgreSQL).

The setup as described will only work for other computers behind the same local area network. You would need to build in other explicit exceptions for IP addresses from the outside world if you wanted to access PostgreSQL from a friend's house. You'd also need to make sure that you used port forwarding from your router to your postgres server to pass through port 5432.

Do you mean i should install PT3 on my laptop without PostgreSQL (Not the full version ?)

In fact, i think that i will play on my laptop only when i'm not at home. Can you explain me the procédure to do this ?
