Hi support can i get some advice / help please, i recently was running pokertrack 2 and hud, before i re-formated my p.c - so i though what a good oppotunity to to set up pokertracker 3.
My set up with pokertracker 2 was on my p.c, but i ran all of my hand history's through my external hand drive hoping not to loose all of my hand history's as i keep all files compacted a regular basis, after i install and set up pokertracker 3 how do i transfer all the info/ hand history's into the new data base, just to add one note they are in a "excel" format, when i open up the compacted files folder i get: hhcopy, ptrack2_backup and ptrack_backup, so when you open one of these files all you get is a text showing what games, but can not access to see the actuall hand histroy's - does this make sense !

Also i take it HUD which iv'e already purchased previously will work pokertracker 3 - if so i need a pass key for it how do i obtain that !

I'm a bit confused about your setup -- the original hand histories from the poker sites you played at -- do you still have those on your external drive? I'm not aware of a poker site that saves its hand histories as excel spreadsheets. If you have these original hand histories, importing your data into PT3 will be much simpler.

As an aside: PAHUD does not and will not work with PT3. PT3 has its own built in HUD that works while PT3 is auto-importing hands.

sorry for the confusion - let me explaine: iv'e got my hand history set up so it goes to my external hard (not my p.c drive to free up space) into a folder (example: pokerstars hand historys)
From there pokertracker imports them into the database, then put's the "read" hand historys into another folder called (example: PS processed hh), now after a couple of days or so i have to compact the database in which this goes into another folder (example: compacted hands), so after the hands have been compacted they are no longer in any of the other folder's (hand history's or processed folders).
Now the hands history's that get compacted, they go into some kind of excel form the txt of game name, tourny/ game # and buy-in comes up but no actuall hand historys - does that make sense in what im saying now - so what i would like to know is: is there a way of accessing these and transporting into a new database !
Recap: from poker site to 1st folder (hand history) > from 1st folder (hand history) to database (pokertracker) > from database (pokertracker) to 2nd folder (processed) > from 2nd folder (processed) to 3rd folder(compacted hands).

Ok i do appolgise for the mix-up my mistake it is not a excell programe it microsoft access - sorry looked a bit like excell (i don't know too much about computers) anyway regardless of wether it's excell or microsoft access i still can not access these files.
The one on pokertracker, it's in a drop down menu with whole list of thing's i use the one saying "compact a database" or it could say "compact and back up a database" also there is the one i use which is an "all in one", can can'y say for sure because i don't have pokertracker on my p.c, anyway i hit the button and way she goes, come's up like "this may take a while pokertarcker compacts and backs up your database" of which i assigned to a folder 5-10 mins later all done and the result i get is, when i open the compacted folder 3 execl files: hhcopy, ptrack2_backup, ptrack_backup all with a icon with: piece of paper, with a purple key in a puple border box on the top left hand corner.

You made this thread in the PT3 thread and you're using PTv2. I'm going to move this thread to the PTv2 forum so Pat can give you a better answer.

I'm really not understanding what you are trying to do. Are you saying you no longer have PT2 installed but you do have the database files and you want to convert them to PT3?

If so, then you need to install PT2 and use the File > Maintain Database Names window to add pointers to your ptrack databases (i.e. ptrack.mdb, ptrack2.mdb, etc, etc)

Then use the Utilities > Export Hand Histories To File option to export the hands from each database to text files which you can use to then import into your PT3 database.

If you install PT2 and need to register it, send me the new product ID from the Help/About Poker Tracker window using the online support system and I'll send a new code...

Hi pat yes that is what i want do, i didn't realise i had go through pokertracker version 2, i was hoping thatand trying to find if this could be done through direct to pokertracker 3 before purchasing it thx - i'll send the code as soon as it downloads, also i see that pokertracker 3 has a "built in" HUD should i re download HUD for PT v2 or don't worry about it ?

You don't need to install PAHUD if you are just looking to export the PT2 data to import into PT3.
