What is my best option?

I have PT2 and I have around 500k hands from the last two months. I had to use SQL 8.3 for my DB because it was so big, but then I cant cache it. Without it cached, PAHUD runs like crap. I was thinking about going to SQL 8.2, but I cant find a working link to it anywhere. Should I make smaller access DBs, which I will hopefully be able to cache? If this is the best option, how many approx. how many handswill fit in each DB? Or should I try to find 8.2 and use that? If 8.2 is the better option, does anyone have a link that works?

I don't know if it's backwards compatible to restore an 8.3 database into 8.2 but you can try it.

When you install it, you will have to install it on port 5433 since 8.3 is using the default 5432

Then you will have to enter a new record on the Utilities > PostgreSQL Settings window in PT2 that defines the settings for 8.2.

Then you can use the Utilities > PostgreSQL Database Functions to make a backup of your 8.3 database.

Then use the same window to restore that .backup file into the 8.2 database. If this works, then you go to the File > Maintain Database Names window, click the Add button, enter a description, check the "Dflt" box and then in the last field choose "Select existing PostgreSQL database" from the list. On the window that opens, select the 8.2 database (it will have the same name as the 8.3 db but you will know which one it is based on the port #). Then click OK to save all changes and close and reopen PT and you'll be ready to use this new db. In PokerAce, you will have to tell it to use the 8.2 database instead of the 8.3 database...
