Thanks for the prompt reply Derek!

Error message reads " Unable to log om to data base (template1). Reason; could not send startup packet :invalid argument". Like Allbusiness, I had some problems following the intitial succesful install, and attempted to remove then reinstall PT3. During the second instalation of the PostgreSQL, an error msg appears saying something like Failed to run initdb1, then instructs me to copy a file before I press ok .............Hang on! Fixed it.

Incase anyone else has these probs, It appears to relate to Poker tracker programs files that for some reason are not removed by the uninstall wizard. The duplication of these files causes the second installation to experience the problems that Allbusiness and I have encountered.

I simply manually deleted the PT3 files in Programs files and then reinstalled.

And it worked!

Hopefully I wont stuff anything else up.

I am glad you got it working. I do think the statement above is coincidental though. PT3 should only leave your configuration files and processed hand histories when you uninstall. This has no bearing on PostgreSQL which is the problem that you were experiencing.

Thanks for sharing the info and I am glad you were able to resolve the issue :)

Derek,

I also had to reinstall, but I run vista. I did the uninstall wizard, as well as manually deleted the two SQL folder adn PT3 folders in the program directory, but I got an error message. Not sure what the exact error was because I'm at work. I suspect something was removed in my original effort which is causing the problem on the reinstall.

Can you give me a walkthrough on how to try to reinstall successfully? Thanks in advance.

It would probably be easier if you could provide me the exact error message that you are encountering.

There are so many possibilities, it would take forever to go through them all ;)

Derek,

I just reinstalled when I got home, and it now seems to be working perfectly.

QUESTION - I thought I read somewhere that the HUD doesn't work w/ PT3... is this true?

Yes, this is true.
PT3 will have it's own HUD which will be in beta test "soon".
