Manual Import errors from (new user, new installation)

Postby PTNewbie » Sat Jun 20, 2009 5:53 pm

I've just installed PT v3.00 build 4. I used Manual Import - Import from directory to import my entire, not very illustrious, Pokerstars history. I have received two errors which I would like to fix and I have two questions. I have not been able to find a satisfactory answer to these questions in the forums here. Thanks in advance for your help:

1) Encountered unexpected end of hand history
Import file: C:\Program Files\PokerStars\HandHistory\<my-user-name>\HH20080731 Nuki no all-in - $0.10-$0.20 - Limit Hold'em.txt
2009/06/20 15:56:48: Encountered unexpected end of hand history. (Hand #19247080754) (Line #54)
2009/06/20 15:56:48: Encountered unexpected end of hand history. (Hand #19247045477) (Line #116)

...

2009/06/20 15:56:48: Encountered unexpected end of hand history. (Hand #19245702863) (Line #3995)
2009/06/20 15:56:48: + Complete (0 hands, 79 errors, 0 duplicates)

This error occurs on every line for cash table log files. But it does not occur on all of the files. It does not occur on any tournament log files.

I reviewed the files which reported these errors and compared them to log files from cash tables which do not report this error. The files that imported correctly have multiple lines between the hands, whereas the files that reported the error had only one blank line between hands. Also, the log files are missing some carraige returns in the ** SUMMARY ** section of the log. Other than that, I can see no significant differences between them.

Here is a snip of one of the log files (names removed in case of privacy issues or something else) where this error was reported:

How the heck can a hand have an invalid pot size? Here's the full error:

I reviewed the hand in question, and the pot amounts are correct. Following is the error and the relevant part of the log (I removed the names in case there are some type of privacy issues or something that I don't know about):

PokerStars Game #22811006864...

PT installs without logging enabled (why?), so there is no log file.

Two more questions:
If I fix those files, then do a manual import again, will all the other files that were imported correctly be imported again? I don't want duplicate info.

I'm buying a new computer in a few weeks that I need for the start of school semester. Will I get two 60-day free trials? Woohoo!!!! :D (OK, that's not really a question.)

PS: New question: While searching the forums for an answer, I see some comments about importing the tournament summaries. I don't have any summaries in my folder. Where are they and how do I import them? Thanks.

PPS: I also see that there are no files in my PokerTracker\processed folder even though plenty of files were processed correctly. Why not?

Please update to Beta 28 and see if your import errors still exist - a lot of problems have been fixed since Build 4.
Download page
PT3 Build History / Release Notes

Please read the release notes as there have been some significant changes in recent versions.

If you still have problems importing hands in Beta 28 please attach the unedited hand history files to a Support ticket so that we can investigate.

To re-import any hands that were imported incorrectly you would need to purge the existing hands first, but it sounds like they haven't been imported at all so far so that shouldn't apply.
Tutorial: Purging Sessions

Tournament summaries are not written to your computer by PokerStars - please see the Tournaments FAQ.

For the processed files issue please see the Tutorial: Using Auto Import.

If you have any further questions I'll be glad to help, but it won't be till the morning because it's bed time here..

Why do you think nothing has been imported? I tried Database Management - Export, and it exported many hands. I tried Database Management - Purge, and there are many players and sessions and all kinds of things in there that I don't understand. So it seems many files were imported, which is consistent with the import status messages, but not moved to the Processed folder. The "Move Processed File To:" box is checked and an existing directory is listed.

Since nothing was moved to Processed, I just decided to purge everything I can find to avoid any duplication. I purged all the sessions, all the tournaments (which took a very long time), cash games and tournaments on Advanced tab, and all players without hands, then house cleaned with all four options checked. I hope I got everything and I hope I have not lost anything.

I upgraded to beta 28.1 and tried the manual import again. Beta 28.1 reported the same unexpected end of hand problem.

The files which are succesfully processed are still not being moved to the Processed directory. Will I have to go through this 12 hour import every time I start PokerTracker?

I will post a Support Ticket.

I didn't mean that nothing had been imported - just the hands where you get the errors.
Someone will get back to you via your ticket - we should be able to see what the problem is from there.
Thanks.

Of course, the link was for me, so it was easy for me to find the ticket again. :D
No worries, though. I will find it.

You can always look up your own tickets from My Tickets (in the side navigation bar on the main page).

Is this an example of a tournament summary that PokerTracker uses? This was extracted from an email PokerStars sent me.

Dear JeffASPoker,

You finished the tournament in 1st place. A $2.00 award has been credited to your Real Money account.

Congratulations!

Thank you for participating.

If so, can I just extract this to a text file in my PokerStars handhistory folder?

When I tried loading this file, I got the following message. It seems to indicate that PokerTracker imported a hand history file when in fact it was a tournament summary file:

2009/06/23 22:40:25: Auto-Import beginning

No, that's not the email you need. You need to request the tournament summary from Stars. In the lobby click the Requests menu and choose 'Tournament History'.
