How does PokerTracker improve my game?

Postby frakur » Sun Jan 13, 2013 9:43 am

Hi,

So I have about a week left on my free trial of (Holdem) PokerTracker4, and I'm still not sure how it's supposed to be helping me. I've been logging all my hands, and I'm sure there's a great mine of information there that could help me, but I have no idea what I should be looking at. I found a forum post entitled "How to use Poker Tracker" on another forum, which gave some good suggestions but seemed to be written about a different version.

So my question is basically - what are the killer features of the software and how can I use it to make me a better player? What statistics should I be paying attention to and how can I find them?

Thanks!

I could talk for hours (and have, actually) about our various features. What kinds of games do you tend to play? That will help me give a few pointers for you as to where to start.

I play mostly 10-player s&g's for a buy in between $5-$15.

Haven't found the HUD that useful, and actually turned it off after a few days of using it as I felt it was just getting in the way. I'm more interested in what PokerTracker can tell me about my behaviour/ bad habits that I haven't yet picked up on myself, or showing me where I can improve.

You can use the More Filters area to filter for various stack sizes so you can look at how you tend to do when you're 10-15BB deep or 15-20BB deep (or a range of any size really). You can look at individual spots in the replayer and see push/fold equity based on hand range models that you can alter (you can really go in great depth building your own hand models if you want!). Those are probably the first things that come to mind that will be useful for a single table SnG - but you can do tons of filtering and analysis for whatever positions make you feel uncomfortable (and you know best what spots you tend to hate).

Oh there is also a push/fold quiz mode which might be interesting to you.
