INSTALLED....but running in background. where is it?

Postby Power Glove » Fri Feb 15, 2008 11:53 am

i just recently installed PT3, and had it running on my desktop the first time running it. The next day after restarting my computer i click the shortcut and it says that there is a version already running. I cant seem to find it after searching for it, how to open the window i had up the first time. I am new at poker tracker, so im sure that this problem is quite silly to you, but i need your help. thanks.

Do you have a firewall preventing PT3 from connecting to check for updates?

If it's really running you can find it in the process list (tight-click on the status bar and choose "task manager", then go to the process tab). You can select the running process and right-click to kill the "ghost". Look for an entry "PokerTracker.exe"

The more interesting thing is why is it running at startup? You said that you just rebooted and then clicked on it. A reboot would end any tunning processes, so if it is running you should find out what caused it to start. First place I'd look is in the startup folders. If it's not there then we have to start checking some registry entries.

But first I'd reboot and make sure it really is starting at boot.

It is not starting at boot I think he tried to start PT3 after a reboot, his firewall/security software did not like our XML configuration files being loaded in PT3 start-up and caused PT3 to hang.

Best regards,
