If you make the backup to your hard drive first and then write the resulting file to disk does that work properly for you?

I haven't tried that, mainly because I'm getting constant popups telling me I have xmb of memory left (always less than the recommended 200mb required) and the actual estimated memory required for the backup is c. 360mb.

It's one of the reasons I got the new laptop. The old one genuinely won't last much longer I reckon.

A couple of things you can do to try and save space:

You can delete all files in the C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\data\pg_log directory (note: you can only delete the files safely in the pg_log directory, so be careful to only get rid of those), and the files in the C:\Program Files\PokerTracker 3\Processed\ folder can be archived to CD and then deleted. That might well free up enough space for you to make the backup normally.

I managed to move it finally using a USB key, only problem is I seem to have overwritten the hands I have played on the new laptop.
How do I re-discover them and amalgamate them with the old ones?

My HUD is also not showing up on the tables.

Run a manual import on the C:\Program Files\PokerTracker 3\Processed directory and it should pick everything else up. Once that's complete - are your hands importing while you play? Do you see a lot of duplicates when you start auto import?

The manual import worked up to and including the last day I played before the restore. I had played one day since (yesterday) and those stats didn't appear.

I also played for a while this evening and the HUD wasn't working. The 'Import Status' window said "Found 0 files to monitor". Obviously the stats didn't appear after either.

You probably overwrote the configuration on your new laptop with the one from your old one. You will need to run the setup wizard again to make sure that your poker sites are configured correctly.
