i'm having difficulty getting a database into the pt3 browse database area. i get db created ok but i can't seem to either connect to the db or when i run schema command i get ERROR: duplicate key value violates unique constraint .

does that last error mean my pt3 key isn't ok? cuz i'm using registered pt3 and says registered to me under help/about.

when i try to connect to my new db that i've created it says it does not exist. i confirmed inside pgadmin that it has been created and is in there. so i'm not sure if i'm getting the schema error because i'm not connecting to db properly? or whether it is because of this duplicate pt3 key thing?

That error just means one of the hands you attempted to import had already been imported, so PT3 did not import it twice. You can safely ignore it.

could you please re-read my post.

this error is coming up when i run \i schema.postgres.sql to get db into browse database area so i can add db from a dif drive into pt3. not when i'm importing hands into a db.

Before you run the \i command, make sure you run the \connect command and that the prompt listed says the name of your database, not 'postgres' or the name of your old database.

Type \l and hit enter at the command prompt and paste the output here.

when i run /l it lists my db's including the ones it is not connecting to. when i created the db's i created them in caps lock and when i was trying to connect to them i was using caps lock which wasn't working. they were listed in lower case so i tried in lower case and it worked. not sure why this was. thanks very much for your help, works now.

That would do it; it is case sensitive.

Kraada, I assume that when I follow this procedure for tuning 2 HDD's and create the new DB, that the DB will have my previous HHdata?

Kraada is off today, but it looks as if the original instructions in this thread would create a new database.
As long as you make a backup of your database before you start you will be able to restore it to the new drive, though.
