PT3 performance tuning 2 HDDs

You have to find the new database in PT3, it's built but there's no data in it yet. In the Database Management window click New, then click the blue "Browse Databases". Select the new database and save it. Set it to active and default.

All of the old data is still on your old hard drive, but once you reimport it into the new database you can get rid of the old one. (It's always better to have the new one working before the old one is removed!)

Nothing on my PT3 yet.
I'm attempting to restore from my backup drive using pgAdminIII.
Is that right? Or should i use Manual Import on Import Tab, or Purge on Database Tab?

Restoring from backup will be a whole lot faster, so I'd take that route.

After more than 30 mins of trying to restore, i got a bunch of pg_retore:xxxxx and finally
"WARNING: errors ignored on restore: 115

Process returned exit code 1."
No exit code 0...
When i click ok, it prompt me if i want to restore again.

What did i do wrong this time?
My backup was store in F drive and i right click pt3_newdb>restore>F:\PT3 BACKUP1.backup.

I'm not sure. Could you paste more of the output? There should normally be an error message in there somewhere with a little more information.

I lost the screenprint kraada...
Anyway, instead of getting exit code 0, i got exit code 1.
Can't click "Ok" as it brings me the a window asking me if i like to restore again.
I clicked "Cancel" instead.

Execute PT3, everything looks ok, played 30 hands and is importing.
Guess the restore works.

Like to update you with my thought on the whole process...
Main reason for me getting a new 10K RPM HDD was when i'm playing 24 tables at Stars with PT3/HUD and TableNinja running, i'm getting major lag.
CPU usage is constantly hitting 100% and the second i shut down PT3 the lag is completely gone and action is INSTANTANEOUSLY. That brings me to the conclusion that PT3 was the culprit.
Did a bunch of reading and thought i'll try out a 2 HDDs tuning but when i starts PT3, CPU usage spike happens like before.
However, housekeeping has been improve from about 1hr to 45mins.
I've not really trying 24 tabling yet but will update.
Most positive experience was the professional advise and response given by thread moderator kraada (yeah, the guy with tons of patient and never sleep ). Appreciate your effort kraada.

My PC spec- Vista Ultimate SP2 32-bit OS, Core2 Duo E8400@3.00GHz, 4GB DDR2 1066 RAM.
My PT3 data- 1.15m hands.
My mood-TILT

If you think of any suggestion please advise.

Have you re-run housekeeping on your database(s) to make sure the cache is up to date?
Have you tried updating the postgres configuration settings to optimize performance?

Yes.
In fact, i do housekeeping every week.

I had that done, prior to installing my new HDD but not after.
I'm still able to see Application Stack Builder in my PostgreSQL 8.3 folder.
Do i need to run Application Stack Builder again?

If you already did the postgres tuning and only changed your hard disk then I don't think you would need to do it again, assuming you actually have "good" settings - there seem to be some differing opinions about what settings to use. I haven't experimented much with this personally but kraada may be able to give you some more detailed recommendations if you can't find anything with a web-search. He's off today, though.
