New Install Just freezes win 7 / postgres 9

Installed postgres 9x on my new machine (64bit win 7 with 8gb ram so I used this version as recommended elsewhere.) It took 4 tries but finally it got running.

Then I ran the performance tuning wizard.

Then I installed Pt3.

When I go to run PT3, it pulls up the poker client wizard as expected. I just selected one client so I could skip past that part and do it in the app when it came up.

However, once past the wizard, it's permahung and just showing the PT3 splash logo and not going any further. I tried a reboot of the machine but same problem persisted.

Help!

I got it up and running after a couple retries....

However, no rush hud!

Under the FTP Configuration, have you checked the 'Enable Rush HUD" box?

Please check all the common issues in the FAQ: PT3 HUD, and if that doesn't help then report your problem so that we can see your logs. The Rush HUD is working fine - I played a little this morning myself.

this is problematic. As I noted in my thread in teh tech support about my endless cache rebuild at the moment (40 hands per minute? wtf???) the only thing I didn't do was force it to run as admin all the time (I did turn off UAC though)

I'll need 100 hours waiting time to test this unless I kill the current restore. IMO if you have to run as admin all the time, WHY ISN'T THIS INFO IN THE INSTALL, UPGRADE, OR RESTORE TYPE TUTORIALS?

Seems that it ought to be a red flag right up fron in the directions.

Yes, you need to configure both PT3 and your poker sites to Run As Administrator every time on Vista and Win 7.
It is in all the FAQs but I'll suggest to the management that it should be on the download page too - I agree that would be useful.

ATTENTION: Windows VISTA and 7 users, you must read this...

Actually, you no longer need to run PT3 or PostgreSQL as an administrator. We actually resolved that a long time ago and we simply provide those instructions as a last resort -- especially for potential users running an old version of PT3.

I'm on Win7 and have UAC enabled and can install PT3 + PostgreSQL without issue. :)

well it turns out that it had bee na bad restore. I did a new restore and it's fine.

However, it is taking literally over an hour a pop to processs those new stars tourney summaries. I'll have to submit a ticket. (MTT's, and probably these were already in the DB)

can you use the FTP rush hud though? Rush hud didn't work on my setup with UAC at mid level off and NOT running PT/FTP as admin.

Running PT/FTP as admin was what solved the problem - win 7 home 64 bit if it makes a diff.
