PS + PT3 = lagging

Postby donvaladares » Thu Mar 15, 2012 8:58 pm

Im not sure this belongs here in General, but lets go:

Im having a serious trouble recently, since Ive been multitabling MTTs. I play on a macbook pro core2duo 2.53ghz/4gb DDR3 memmory, but once I get more than 10 tables at the same time wih PT3 HUD running, it stops running smoothly and starts lagging the software. Had the same problem on a macbook white. If I shut PT3 down, the problem disappears...Ive ran housekeeping and stuff, but the issue remains.

Is there anything I can do?

Is the cache at 100% in the status bar? If not, run Database > Housekeeping.
Please check the FAQ: PT3 HUD for general tuning tips. Also be aware that often Macbooks can have slower 5400 rpm harddrives and that will affect performance when PostgreSQL is trying to access a lot of data.
How big is your database?

Uhm, I see. I ran housekeeping, cache is 100% now but the problem remains...Im guessing its a 5400 rpm (gonna check soon), but the database is kinda small, 500k ish hands...
If this is really the problem, could I use an external HD to solve it?

Thanks!

Are you using PokerTracker natively in the Mac environment or through Parallels?

Try running the Enterprise Stack Builder (in Applications -> PostgreSQL) and in the Registration and Free Trials section install the Tuning Wizard and run it and that may help you get better performance.

Application Stack Builder is what it is called for you. We have not received general reports of this nature.

That might help - what sort of connection are you using for your external drive?
