Rebuilding Cache

Excuse my rather dumb question that I should have asked already years ago.

What is the rebuilding cache needed for?

I have a database which I use for analyzing, so no HUD is used. Is an up to date cache better?

It makes certain queries faster as it means data doesn't need to be recalculated every time. It depends on the exact analysis types you do whether this will help you or not.
