Lag when making a filter

I get really annoyed when I try and make a filter. I select my options and press apply and then the lag is phenomenal. There are only 75k hands or so for the player, so nothing huge. The program freezes and then nothing happens.
I can't see why this would happen. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can go about fixing this? Anyone else experiencing this?
