Yes, a new table will be created, but I don't know it may be created whether the cache update succeeds or fails..

Try observing a tournament at Full Tilt (easiest here since HH are written for observed hands) and importing a few hands then re-try the cache build.

If you've created your cache without error, just ignore the message that pops up telling you the cache is unpopulated. There's a bug in that code which will be fixed in the next release.

I have no HUD since the cache update.
Only the small PT icon (Config the stats, save the layout,...) is shown but no boxes with the player stats on the table.

Are hands importing OK?
What site is this?
Cash or tournament?
Vista/XP?
Do you have any AHK scripts running?

Yeah it might be possible that the message is only a false positive, because the HUD performance is really great for me, no more lags etc..

pokerpro wrote:Initially, my attempts to update the cache were giving me a bunch of errors.

On the advice from support I did this:
Go Start->PostgreSQL->Configuration Files->Edit postgresql.conf
At the very bottom of this file add the following line:
zero_damaged_pages = on
File->Save. Then go Start->Programs->PostgreSQL->Reload Configurations.
This should resolve that issue. After the error has been resolved, it is recommended that you go back into your PostgreSQL config file and remove the line you just added.

I no longer obtained errors when updating the cache. I thought, problem solved -- cache updated with NO errors!!!!

But then when I left PT3 and came back in, a message popped up saying that I had to update my cache. So I did. Then I exited PT3 and came back in
and the same message came up. I have updated my cache several times with no errors, but it keeps on asking me to update it. I need to know if the message is erroneous or if the cache is still not actually updated.

Not recommended to do this, only if specifically told to do so by support!

zero_damaged_pages (boolean)

Detection of a damaged page header normally causes PostgreSQL to report an error, aborting the current command. Setting zero_damaged_pages to true causes the system to instead report a warning, zero out the damaged page, and continue processing. This behavior will destroy data, namely all the rows on the damaged page. But it allows you to get past the error and retrieve rows from any undamaged pages that may be present in the table. So it is useful for recovering data if corruption has occurred due to hardware or software error. You should generally not set this true until you have given up hope of recovering data from the damaged page(s) of a table. The default setting is off, and it can only be changed by a superuser.

I HAVE THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. SO NOW THE PROGRAM IS UNUSABLE. I CANNOT AND WILL NOT 8-TABLE WITH NO STATS. :evil: :evil:

the really sad part is that i'm a semi-power user and beta 15 was perfectly stable for me. since i've learned over the years not to fix what isn't broken, i hesitated to install beta 16. but after reading posts about the state of pt3 and the beta 16 changelog, both of which ENCOURAGED ME TO INSTALL THE UPDATE, i went ahead and did so. so now i get to wait and see what happens, after spending 6+ hours reimporting my hands and creating the cache, and another hour or so trying to make it work and reading the forum.

i created a trouble ticket. it references this thread.

ps the diminished cpu activity and hdd activity looks encouraging. i look forward to the day when i can say pt3 has paid for itself many times over, like i've said about pt2 for the longest time. at this point i'm probably breakeven wrt the incredible amount of time i've spent trying to get pt3 to work. and that's just sad.

What diminished CPU activity! the new HUD is a RAM guzzler when multi tabling!

I doubt anyone plays 18 tables but I just tested it for the sake of testing it and the new HUD takes a lot more RAM than versoin 14. but then again, the HUD for 14 didnt work for long on 18 tables.

just a beta testers input

You can re-install B15 back over B16 for now.
If you didn't keep the installer you can re-download it, just change the 16 in the link for a 15.
