I'm glad to hear it finished!

It should not take nearly so long the next time around.

During CLUSTER, PostgreSQL moves the data around in the database in order to group things together in an intelligent fashion. It takes time to move all of the data around, and things are going to get created and deleted in the process, while it works towards the optimal result.

Everything seems to be workin fine. Thanks! Follow up question - I don't mind investigation a few hundred into a new drive , perhaps even SSD.. Would that make things significantly faster and would there be an easy way to move the database?

i meant to say "investing"..

I am thinking a 60GB SSD to be used as drive E (I already have a 2nd HDD in my machine).. this drive would be purely used for pokertracker stuff..

Please chime in how easy it would be to move the Database? Will I have to remove and reinstall everything on the new drive?

The SSD would definitely be faster, though dollar for dollar you'll probably do better with a 10k rpm drive or a couple in a RAID array; the problem is that (as you know) the databases get large. If you're only going to have a couple million hands then a 60G SSD will be plenty but if you're going to keep growing your database, then you're going to want an option with a bit more space.

As to moving the database, the easiest thing will probably be to wait a teensy bit longer for the next beta which will have easy to setup backing up capabilities :)

We don't yet know when the next beta will be released, but it will be a while yet.

A 250G SSD would be really sweet, there's no denying that though :)

if I were to get this now, would i have to remove all software and reinstall it to the new SSD drive?

another words, what would be the optimal way to move the database there now? (b4 the new release)

thanks
