Uunable to Connect to Database after re-download.

Hello,
I have a clean computer now because it crashed recently (needed to reinstall everything).
Have re-downloaded PT3.
Cannot open. Error Message: Unable to Connect to Database.
How do I fix this? Cannot find answer in FAQ or in forum postings.
Another question: I have AVG Security 2011. How do I set this so firewall does not block PT3?
Could the firewall be the problem?
Thanks

more information about problem:

I have all 4 files from: http://www.pokertracker.com/products/PT ... c=firewall as exceptions in firewall.
imperative that you allow FULL Internet access for the following four processes:

* C:\Program Files\PokerTracker 3\PokerTracker.exe This is the only file that appears in firewall data base of trusted sites
* C:\Program Files\PokerTracker 3\PokerTrackerHud.exe
* C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.x\bin\pg_ctl.exe
* C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.x\bin\postgres.exe

When I open PT3 and after I receive error message, I click cancel, but PT3 continues running using 100% CPU.
I need to restart in order to get PT3 to close.
Why does this happen?

Thanks

Is PostgreSQL installed on your machine?

yes, but I have 2 of them: version 8.3 and 8.4. Why would that be?
for version 8.4 I am able to go to pgAdmin III using "dbpass"
this process shows local hose 5432; running; username = prostgre;
would ProstgreSQL 8.3 be for another application that uses Prosttgre
(which I do have)?

Thanks, Lyn

We tend to install 8.3, I know one of our competitors installs 8.4. Either version will work just fine with PT3.

You can try following this tutorial and see if that helps get you connected.

Right now I am thoroughly confused. :(
I have deleted all files for prostgre 8.3. Was not showing in control panel. I went to C > Programs > Prostgre 8.3 > delete
I cannot delete prostgre 8.4 because I need those files.
Have tried to re-download prostgre 8.3 from FAQ instructions following to the letter.
It doesn't work because error message states I have a database under that name, or the port is used. So I change name and port number and still get same error message: database could nt be created==user account already exists.
I am afraid to do a run command and delete "prostgre" in general...what the instructions tell me to do...this may
(not sure) delete version 8.4.
Please help.
what do I do now?
This is not a problem with my AVG security, its a problem with prostgre...and how to download.
besides, I'm missing dll files....so I thought a delete in full with new install would work better.
AAGggggghhhhh. :?: :?: :?: now what

It won't delete the installation, just the user, which then will be re-created by the installer.

OK, how do you delete the user? Do you delete user in prost. version 8.4? How does that work?
Would you please be more informative in your reply. I'm really stuck.

Problem is corrected.
I am only using postgreSQL version 8.4.
Changing the password for version 8.4 when opening PT 3 first time after re-install got all working again.
What a simple fix to such a baffling problem.
Thanks for your help.
