Have you previously installed PostgreSQL? If you have, you can download the installer without Postgresql and it should work for you.

If you had previously installed PostgreSQL and uninstalled it for some reason, you can try deleting the C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\ directory before attempting to install again.

You may also need to disable UAC (see viewtopic.php?f=22&t=822 ) in order to get everything working properly.

Vista doesn't play nice with PostgreSQL 8.3. You'll need to install PostgreSQL 8.2.7 instead. See this thread.

FWIW, PostgreSQL 8.3 should be fine with Vista if you have the latest service patch (SP1) installed.

Read the thread linked above. Manually download and install PostgreSQL 8.2.7 and that should resolve the issue. Make sure that you use the same passwords that you created during the failed installation attempt.

If you still do not understand, contact me via the Support system and request remote assistance. ;)

Best regards,

Derek

Send me a message via the support system. If you want, I can schedule a remote session with you right now since you seem to be available.
