"Unable to Start"

Postby kukjavel » Mon May 26, 2008 1:01 am

XP Pro & SP2.

When trying to launch PT3 I get a message saying: "Unable to Start. A version of PokerTracker is already running."

I'm like, okay, but seeing NO tab at the bottom of my taskbar indicating that it's running. I then bring up my Windows Task Manager to double-check, and sure enough, there is no PT visible in the "Applications" tab. But under the "Processes" tab I find a few entries for both 'postgres.exe' and 'PokerTracker.exe.'

I then re-start hoping to flush the whole system clean, and try again.

This time, when I start PT3, the ONLY thing I see after initial launch is the very TOP LEFT of the PT application windows title bar and nothing else. And yes, its tab is visible in the taskbar at the bottom of my screen. But I can't get the darn window itself of PT show up, so when I click on the tab in the taskbar the tab disappears and we're back to an "Unable to Start. A version of PokerTracker is already running" message window appearing once again when trying to re-start PT3.

Thoughts?

Should I just re-install PT3?

I see that very small window/title bar occasionally when I start PT3, but if you drag the bottom right corner it should resize and run ok.
Try disabling the "minimize to system tray" option (menu Configure -> Options).
If you need to kill PT3 from the situation you describe, only kill the PT3 processes, not postgres.
