PT3 doesn't start without VPN connection??

Postby EB1983 » Thu Feb 14, 2008 1:51 pm

A couple of hours ago I couldn't reach this website anymore and PT3 wouln't start anymore either. I thought PT3 should be able to start even when your website was down. From the 2+2 forum I learned that I was the only one who was experiencing this problem.
The way I have gotten it to work again is using a VPN connection to my university. When I'm connected to this VPN everything works fine.
Can you tell me what is causing this problem?

Thanks

It appears the timeout I put in the update check code didn't work. I'll look into it some more.

Ok,

But do u have any idea why I would need a VPN connection in the first place? Is my ISP blocking your website?

You are unable to access our website in your browser using your normal connection?

I cannot imagine that our website would be blocked.

I can't imagine it either, but it seems to be the case. I'm not sure what else could be causing this problem...

What happens when you try to open the pokertracker3.com website? Typically if a website is being blocked by an ISP it will load a page saying that is was blocked due to improper content.

You are not having problems with any other websites through your connection?

After a couple of seconds I get the following message:

[i8iy]The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings. [/i8iy]

I don't experience any problems with any other websites.

I tried accessing this website on a different computer that is part of the same LAN. Same problem still exists.

I am able to 'ping' your website with a positive result.

I also called a friend who lives a block away but uses a different ISP, he experiences no problems opening your website.

If your ISP was blocking our site, the Ping should fail as well since you would be pinging the same port. I am confused :? Are you behind a school router or something?

Have you tried a different computer, using the same ISP but behind a different router?
