Why Ascii and not UTF_8

Is there any reason why the databases in PT V3 are created as Ascii and not UTF_8?

I will see if I can get an answer from the development team about this.

Ascii storage/processing is actually faster than UTF8 and has been more than sufficient for all of the poker sites thus far. Its something we may need to change in the future as we expand our language support to non-English languages but thus far has not been an issue.
