Installing PostgreSQL - need password

Postby MaJiK9021 » Sun Dec 06, 2009 5:21 pm

Hi, I've deleted/reinstalled PostgreSQL, but during the installation process it's asking me for a password. I've tried dbpass, but it doesn't work. I've found instructions on how to remove the password, but that only applies if PostgreSQL is already installed. I have no idea what to do.

I'm running on Windows XP.

Try svcPASS83 if that doesn't do it, click Start --> Run, type cmd, at the prompt type:
net user postgres /delete

hit enter, then you can put in any password you want as the user will be recreated.

If it is asking you to create the password then have a look at the installation part of this: How to reinstall PostgreSQL.
