Can't get postgres to work at all.

I've had PT3 on my laptop for a while (don't play on there too much, mainly play on my desktop) and used the trial up. Long story short, something happened (I forget what it was exactly) to where PT3 wouldn't work on my computer anymore. I reinstalled both PT3 and postgresql and I can't get postgresql to work to save my life. I've tried installing 8.3 & 8.4 word for word on the install pdf file & it still doesn't work. When it installs, I get an error at the end during the "Initialising the database cluster" part saying "Problem running post-install step. Installation may not complete correctly. The database cluster initialisation failed." Then I go to run PT3 & get to the "Configure PostgreSQL Server" part and click connect (all information entered correctly) and get an Unable to Connect error saying "Unable to connect to this database. Please configure the configuration."

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? This is getting very frustrating.

PostgreSQL isn't finishing the installation properly, which needs to happen before you can connect to it.

Please check the box for extra logging during the installation process, then when it gets to that error, attach the log file that the installer has created to a support ticket and we'll help you get everything sorted.

On which part do I click that box? I went through the whole installation from clicking the .exe file & didn't see any check box like that. If it matters, the file I'm installing is named "postgresql-8.4.4-1-windows".

It's possible they don't have it on the 8.4 installer - I'm more familiar with the 8.3 installer.
